unleavened.

timing.
how does it even work?
what does it even mean?
and when we are always in it, how are we to trust the ONE who's outside of it?

...by remembering His sovereignty.

when He took the children of Israel out of Egypt, He made sure it was done in His perfect timing, for His greater purpose and for His ultimate glory.
time after time, Moses asked Pharaoh to let God's people go, but continually his heart was hardened and it took the death of all the firstborn children of the Egyptians for Pharaoh to finally just kick them out. as it happened, when he decided to kick them out, it was nighttime and the unknowing Israelites were in the process of making bread, but had not yet leavened the bread. although seemingly a minor, unimportant detail was of SUCH importance considering the Feast (of Unleavened Bread) the Lord had just instituted--the Passover.
"for seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses..."
so when they were forced at night from the land of Egypt, the fact that they happened to have unleavened bread, allowed them to celebrate the Passover right when they were delivered from the land of slavery. the Lord will not require of us, that which He does not enable us to do.
He knew. He knows. He will always know.
and not only this, but as they journeyed to the promised land, God guarded their hearts by taking them through the wilderness--the wilderness is not a comfortable place, but the Lord knew the fickleness of their hearts and kept them in His perfect will. this may not have been the easiest way, but by tribulation, we are made more into the image of Jesus Christ.

"tribulation produces perseverance, perseverance character, and character HOPE. now HOPE does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
[Romans 5:4-5]

we can take heart and yield to His sovereignty because He is worthy...and He knows.
thank you Lord for knowing...
